Chinese Embassy in India Donates to Indian Prime Minister's National Relief Fund

To support the relief and rehabilitation work of Indian people in the tsunami-hit areas, Mr. Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to India, presented a cheque of US$800 thousand on January 31 to Mr. Rohit Khera, Joint Secretary of the Indian Prime Minister's Office who was in charge of the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, donating to the disaster-hit areas in India in the name of the Chinese Embassy in India. Ambassador Sun conveyed condolences and sympathy by the Chinese government and people to the Indian people in the tsunami-hit areas and expressed that the donation by the Chinese Embassy in India was to show the support of the Chinese government and people to India's relief and rehabilitation work. The Chinese Embassy in India would continue to pay attention to the process of India's relief and rehabilitation work and stood ready to provide help within its ability. It was believed that under the leadership of the Government of India, the people in the disaster-hit areas could overcome disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date. Mr. Rohit spoke highly of and thanked for the sympathy and support by the Chinese government and people to the tsunami-hit areas in India and expressed that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund would allocate the funds for the relief and rehabilitation work as soon as possible.
