|Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs Halbe Zijlstra of the Netherlands|
On February 7, 2018, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing at request with Minister of Foreign Affairs Halbe Zijlstra of the Netherlands, who was accompanying King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands to visit China.
Wang Yi expressed that the Netherlands is one of the first Western countries to recognize the People's Republic of China. Since the realization of historic mutual visits by President Xi Jinping and King Willem-Alexander, the development of bilateral relations has embarked on the "fast track". It is believed that this visit paid by King Willem-Alexander will inject new impetus into China-Netherlands comprehensive cooperative partnership of openness and pragmatism. China is ready to work with the new government of the Netherlands to continue upholding the principle of mutual respect, constantly deepen practical cooperation in various fields, enhance communication and coordination on international affairs, and jointly participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, so as to push China-Netherlands relations for greater development.
Halbe Zijlstra expressed that the development of Netherlands-China relations has yielded encouraging outcomes. The Netherlands stands ready to continue intensifying high-level exchanges with China, expand the two-way trade and investment, and strengthen cooperation within the United Nations (UN) and the UN Security Council. The Netherlands is willing to give play to its geographical advantages and strong points to make positive contributions to the "Belt and Road" construction, and will send a delegation to attend the first China International Import Expo.
