|Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin of Ukraine|
On September 18, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin of Ukraine on the sidelines of his attendance at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Wang Yi expressed that Ukraine is a traditional cooperation partner of China. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, and bilateral relations have enjoyed sound foundation. China is willing to, together with Ukraine, take the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation, and push China-Ukraine strategic partnership for development on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. China supports all sides to politically resolve the Ukrainian crisis through dialogue and negotiation on the basis of the new Minsk agreement.
Pavlo Klimkin noted that Ukraine fully supports and actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by China, and stands ready to further deepen cooperation with China under this framework, so as to push bilateral relations for constant practical outcomes. The Ukrainian side appreciates China’s objective and fair stances on international and regional affairs, and hopes that China could play a greater role in the settlement of the Ukrainian issue.
