Wang Yi Holds Talks with President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak

On July 14, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with visiting President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak.

Wang Yi said that China staunchly supports multilateralism and the UN in playing a core role in international affairs. At present, regional hotspot issues are falling and rising, global development situation tends to be more pressing, and deficits in global governance need to be filled in time. China hopes the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly to focus on the major issues in the fields of world peace and development, facilitate the political settlement of international conflicts through mediation, conciliation and other measures, expedite the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promote the implementation of the Paris Agreement, and strive to improve the working efficiency of the UN.

Miroslav Lajcak said that it requires the UN to play a greater role in coping with current global challenges. In order to achieve this goal, China's active contributions are vitally important. The UN General Assembly will push forward such major agendas as conflict prevention, sustainable development and immigration, and expects China to further provide strong support to this end.
