On July 5, 2017 local time, President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany jointly watched the friendly football match between Chinese and German youths in Berlin.

When Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan arrived at the Olympia stadium, Angela Merkel greeted them at the parking lot. Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan headed toward the hallway together with Angela Merkel, having friendly greetings with guests from German football circle and visiting the photo exhibition themed China-Germany Campus Football Cooperation. Xi Jinping, Mme. Peng Liyuan and Angela Merkel walked to the center of football pitch, having amiable communication with the young football players from both sides. Xi Jinping told the young football players that they are the future of the development of Chinese and Germany football causes, as well as the successor of the cause of China-Germany friendly cooperation. It is hoped that they can develop the spirit of solidarity and hardworking, learn and share football skills with each other, and become good friends and good partners with each other.

Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan watched the friendly football match between Chinese and German youths with Angela Merkel. Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Germany football cooperation has been constantly and deeply promoted. It is a systematic program to improve the football level.
