Wang Yi Meets with Outgoing French Ambassador to China Maurice Gourdault-Montagne

On June 30, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at request with outgoing French Ambassador to China Maurice Gourdault-Montagne.

Wang Yi spoke positively of Maurice Gourdault-Montagne’s contributions to the development of China-France relations during his tenure, and hoped that he could continuously care for and support bilateral friendly causes in his new post. Wang Yi expressed that China-France relations have enjoyed a stable, rapid and comprehensive development in recent years. China has always viewed bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective. Appreciating France’s independent foreign policy, China is willing to continue to work with France, constantly elevate bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to new stages.

Maurice Gourdault-Montagne expressed that France has always regarded China as an important strategic cooperation partner. Appreciating China’s important and positive role in international and regional affairs, the country expects that both sides could continuously enjoy a robust and rapid development of bilateral friendly cooperative partnership, and jointly make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and prosperity.
