2017/06/20

On June 19, 2017 local time, the third China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Health Ministers' Forum was held in Budapest. Vice Premier Liu Yandong and Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén of Hungary attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

Liu Yandong said that since the establishment of the "16+1 cooperation" mechanism between China and the CEEC, it has made fruitful achievements and revealed its strong vitality. President Xi Jinping pointed out that the "16+1 cooperation" will develop into an important "interface" for the "Belt and Road" initiative to join in the European economic circle. China is accelerating the construction of a healthy China. The CEEC is the bond for the exchanges and cooperation between Asia and Europe. Deepening China-CEEC health cooperation is not just conducive to coping with global health challenge, but also effective to promoting the China-EU cooperation and the construction of the "Healthy Silk Road".

Liu Yandong noted that in the past more than two years, the 16+1 health cooperation mechanism has become increasingly mature, with multi-regional exchanges and collaboration going deeper and multi-field cooperation enjoying various highlights. It is hoped that China and CEEC will continue to enhance policy integration, give full play to the leading role of the Health Ministers' Forum and other mechanisms, deepen practical cooperation in the healthcare field, and enhance the capability to deal with public health emergencies. It is expected that China and CEEC will intensify the efforts to co-cultivate talents, strengthen science and technology research and development cooperation in health and improve the ability of health supply and service, so as to open up a new situation of cooperation in health between China and CEEC and to make greater contributions to improving health and well-being of people of all countries as well as building a community of shared future for mankind.

After the opening ceremony, Liu Yandong and Zsolt Semjén jointly witnessed the launching of networks of public health cooperation, health policy research and health talents cooperation and that of the official website of the "16+1" Hospital Cooperation Alliance. They also witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements on health cooperation and visited the achievement exhibition of China-CEEC health cooperation and that of health achievements of China.

Themed on "Promoting Universal Health", the forum issued the Budapest Declaration of the Third China-CEEC Health Ministers' Forum.
