|Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Newly-appointed Thai Ambassador to China Piriya Khempon|
On June 7, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the newly-appointed Thai Ambassador to China Piriya Khempon in Beijing.
Wang Yi welcomed Ambassador Piriya Khempon to assume his new post in China and spoke positively of China-Thailand relations. Appreciating Thailand for its strong support to the "Belt and Road" construction, Wang Yi stressed that the Chinese side highly values its relations with Thailand, and is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with the country. It is hoped that the railway cooperation project could be fully implemented at an early date, in a bid to well complete the good deed. As Thailand is an important country in the Asia-Pacific region, China stands ready to, together with the country, enhance cooperation in international and regional affairs, so as to maintain the common interests of both countries as well as regional peace and stability.
Piriya Khempon expressed that Thailand and China are as close as one family. Both countries have conducted fruitful cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework, achieving substantial increase in bilateral economy and trade, especially two-way investment. Attaching great importance to its relations with China, the Thai government will continuously support and participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, and advance practical cooperation in railway, economy, trade and other fields, in a bid to constantly push bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation for new outcomes.
