Ambassador Wang Guangya at Professor Bai's Painting Presentation Ceremony
(25 February 2005)

Ambassador Wang and Mr. Bai took a photo in front of "Torrents of Hukou".

On 25 February 2005, Mr. Bai Gengyan, Chinese contemporary landscape painter and art professor of Tianjin Arts Institute, presented his painting "Torrents of Hukou" to the Chinese Mission to the United Nations. Ambassador Wang Guangya, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, participated in the presentation ceremony.

Professor Bai held his art exhibition at the United Nations headquarters from 14 to 25 February 2005. His works depict magnificent mountains and rivers with a genre of grandness and poetry. The painting "Torrents of Hukou" was created by him in 2004. According to the ancient Chinese legend, Hukou was the waterway along the Yellow River built by Dayu, China's first ancestor, by cleaving the mountains. The painting, by reflecting the resounding and earth-shaking torrents of Hukou, has demonstrated the unswerving fighting spirit of the Chinese nation.

The painting will be displayed in the dining hall of the Chinese Mission.
