President Hu Jintao Meets with Russian President

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in New York Wednesday to exchange views on furthering the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation.

The two leaders are meeting on the sidelines of the UN climate change summit and other UN meetings. This is the first meeting between the two presidents since President Hu paid a state visit to Russia in June.

During their talks in Moscow in June, President Hu said the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation was bound to have a better future so long as the two sides seized the opportunity and joined hands in deepening it.

Since China and Russia set up their strategic partnership of cooperation in 1996, bilateral relations have developed steadily and all-round cooperation have expanded further. The strategic partnership of cooperation has become a model for relationships between big countries and neighbors.
