Ambassador Wang Guangya visited Sudan and Chad with Security Council Mission

From 5 to 10 June 2006, Security Council mission composed of 15 permanent representatives of Security Council members, including Ambassador Wang Guangya, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, visited Sudan and Chad. Members of the mission met with Sudanese President Omar el-Bashir and other high-ranking officials of the Sudanese Government, as well as representatives of the Sudanese opposition parties and non-governmental organisations, inspected south of Sudan and the Darfur region, and visited the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, a displaced persons camp and a refugee camp in Chad.
