The United Nations, generated during the anti-fascist war, was an embodiment of aspirations for peace and development cherished by people all over the world in the post-war period. After more than half a century, it remains an organization carrying the ardent expectation of mankind in jointly creating a better world characterized by stability, prosperity, equality and justice. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the biggest developing country, China has all along firmly adhered to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, actively participated in UN affairs, promoted global cooperation and worked with all other peace-loving peoples and countries in a concerted effort to maintain world peace and enhance common development.
