A: On November 7, two Chinese workers of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation were shot dead by unknown gunmen on their way to a construction site of the company's project in Nigeria.
Attaching great importance to the incident, the Foreign Ministry immediately instructed the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria to handle it urgently. The Embassy launched the contingency mechanism at once and made representations with the Nigerian side, demanding a quick investigation of the case, the perpetrators be brought to justice and effective measures be taken to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and institutions in Nigeria. The Embassy also guided the company involved to deal with the aftermath, reminded Chinese nationals and institutions to step up safety precautions. The Nigerian side expressed grief at the death of Chinese nationals and said it would earnestly investigate the case and step up security measures for Chinese nationals and enterprises.
