Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Remarks on Chinese Working Group's Visit to the Chinese Nationals Illegally Detained by Japan

2012/08/16

Q: It is reported that the working group of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Japan has arrived in Naha to visit the Chinese nationals illegally detained by Japan. How are these people now?

A: The working group of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Japan began work immediately upon arriving in Naha this noon. They visited in succession the five Chinese who arrived in Naha first among the 14 Chinese nationals illegally detained by Japan and confirmed that they were in good health conditions. The working group has contacted the families of the five to inform them of the detained Chinese nationals' situation. The working group is now working hard to visit the other nine Chinese as soon as possible and urging Japan to immediately release the Chinese nationals and vessel.
