At the invitation of Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka will pay an official visit to China from April 6 to 9.

At the invitation of the Chinese government, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand will visit China from April 5 to 7.

Q: Regarding the visit of Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, could you introduce his itinerary? How does China evaluate the current China-Sri Lanka relations? What are your expectations for the visit?

A: During Prime Minister Wickremesinghe'visit, Chinese leaders will meet and hold talks with him. The two sides will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.

China and Sri Lanka are traditional friendly neighbors. Our two peoples feel deep amity towards each other. Bilateral relations are founded on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation. We commend the government of Sri Lanka for its positive policies towards China and would like to take this visit as an opportunity to consolidate traditional friendship, promote practical cooperation, and elevate China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership featuring sincerity, mutual assistance and long-lasting friendship to a new height.

Q: Yesterday, a new government was formed in Myanmar. Aung San Suu Kyi is the new government's foreign minister. What is your comment?

A: We congratulate the forming of the new government in Myanmar and believe that people in Myanmar will make greater achievements in their national development.

Yesterday, Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a message of congratulations to Madame Aung San Suu Kyi. Minister Wang Yi said that China-Myanmar "Paukphaw" friendship has withstood the test of time and is growing stronger. The traditional good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation between the two sides have brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. China stands ready to work with Myanmar and make relentless efforts to move forward China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
