Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei's Remarks on the Philippines' Hype Around the Issue of the Ren'ai Reef

Q: On March 29, the Philippines sent once again a supply ship to the Ren'ai Reef, with journalists onboard. What is China's comment?

A: The Philippines' action was aimed at hyping up the issue of the South China Sea, so as to serve its attempt to illegally occupy the Ren'ai Reef. The Philippines' action cannot change the fact that China owns sovereignty over the Nansha Islands, including the Ren'ai Reef, and cannot shake China's will and resolve to safeguard its national sovereignty. I want to stress that China will by no means allow the Philippine side to seize the Ren'ai Reef in any form, nor will China allow it to undermine the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) signed by China and ASEAN countries.
