Q: The result of the run-off vote in Mali's presidential election was made public on August 15, confirming the victory of Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, candidate of the Rally for Mali. What is China's comment?

A: Mali and China enjoy longstanding friendship. Bilateral relations have been developing smoothly, as evidenced by positive results of cooperation in all fields. President Keita is an old friend of China. We congratulate him on his victory. We believe that with the leadership of President Keita, the government and people of Mali will open up a whole new dimension of national peace, stability and development. China always supports the cause of peaceful development in Mali and stands ready to work with the international community to continue to make positive contributions to the stability as well as economic and social development of Mali. China will work closely with the new government of Mali for progress of bilateral relations.
