|Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Remarks on Japanese Prime Minister's Statement on ASEAN Policy|
Q: On the afternoon of January 18, 2013, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued a statement on Japan's ASEAN policy when meeting journalists in Jakarta, Indonesia. What is China's comment?
A: Asia is a diverse and robust region of different cultures and various social systems. We always advocate respect for regional diversity, peaceful co-existence, harmony, openness, inclusiveness and common development. With regards to territorial and maritime disputes, we always stand for peaceful settlement of relevant issues through bilateral dialogue and consultation between countries concerned. This is also a shared view among countries in the region. We hope that Japan could conform to the historical trend, be responsible and contribute to stability and development in Asia.
