|Counselor Du Xiaocong Attends and Addresses Symposium on Africa-China Relations at Syracuse University|
On April 8-9, 2010, Counselor Du Xiaocong of the Chinese Mission attended the Symposium on Africa-China Relations held by Syracuse University, and delivered a keynote speech entitled "China's Role in Africa".
In his speech, Counselor Du briefed on the past and present of the friendly relations between China and Africa, as well as China's policy toward Africa. He said that China and Africa are friends in adversity, that world peace, development and prosperity are inextricably linked to that of Africa, and that China stands ready to make contribution to African peace and development. The overall principles and objectives of China's African policy are: sincere friendship and treating each other as equals, mutual benefit and common prosperity, mutual support and close collaboration, and learning from each other for common development. Counselor Du also touched upon the development of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
